France: ‘Global village’ tells the story of fair trade
De manier waarop we in Europa producten kopen en consumeren heeft gevolgen voor mensen in het Zuiden.
The French Oddatara project used this Global Village narrative as the basis for a series of web docs. The project was an initiative of Artisans du Monde Annecy, a French fair-trade organization, in collaboration with a French journalist.
A loop of connection
The 13 short videos tell the stories of marginalised individuals, for instance women and Dalit, who have been able to find decent work and salary through craftwork. They demonstrate how their livelihood is connected, through the fair-trade network, with craft shops and consumers in Europe. Thereby it showcases a virtuous loop in which everyone has a role.
The web docs are subtitled and available at www.oddafip.org.
